Watch Royal Wedding Online on the BBCNo matter where you live in the world, the BBC will make sure that you can watch the royal wedding live of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The “Beeb”, as it’s sometimes known, announced today that their BBC America channel will broadcast the royal wedding in the US, while the BBC Entertainment brand will broadcast the royal wedding live in the rest of the world. In addition, the BBC is saying that they haven’t decided yet on whether they will allow viewers to watch royal wedding online in repeats the rest of the day.

The British based station says that this means that potentially billions of people around the globe will be able to watch the royal wedding with an authentic British slant to the coverage. The coverage will be anchored by the broadcast veteran Huw Edwards, who is known as one of the BBC’s most senior and well-respected anchormen. The royal family has granted BBC1 access to exclusive vantage points along the procession route and at the site of the royal wedding live itself, Westminster Abbey.

Huw Edwards has, in recent years, been the BBC’s anchor for other major British state events such as the visit from the Pope, the Opening of Parliament, and the Festival of Remembrance. Despite the enormity of those events, this will be the largest event that he’s ever covered – some are predicting that the television audience will be the largest in history, with up to 2 and a half billion people who will watch royal wedding online or even watch royal wedding live on TV that day. In the week leading up to the royal wedding, which will be the royal family’s biggest event in decades, BBC Worldwide will broadcast a slew of documentaries on the royal family as well as on Prince William and Kate Middleton themselves.

Coverage and documentaries will include a retrospective on royal weddings throughout the past century. There will also be a look back into the House of Windsor, and the narrative of Kate Middleton’s and Prince William’s relationship and courtship from their first meeting at St. Andrews through the present day. Jana Bennett, the president of BBC Worldwide, gave a statement saying “The Royal Wedding live will provide an opportunity for all global local channels around the globe to participate in a joint global viewing event. For the first time in history, millions and possibly billions of viewers in Africa, India, Latin America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas will have the opportunity to watch an event like this live and celebrate as the royal wedding live unfolds.”

May they live a long and glorious life filled with laughter, passion, compromise,
and blessings of God.
May the new youth take an interest in Cahterine and William, and may he be the next King of England.

What is the BBC going to do about commercial breaks/adverts? I fervently hope that there will be none, but am not optimistic. Anybody know? There won’t be any commercial breaks in the wedding ceremony!

My guess is that they´ll have commercial breaks during the festivities leading up to the ceremony and following the ceremony, but that the actual ceremony itself will be commercial free. That´s how they´ve handled similar events in the past anyway…

There are normally no commercial breaks on BBC, but can’t vouch for what independent broadcasting may do though…Good luck for the future to Wills and Kate, that the day goes well and everyone enjoys it!

For me the most beautiful aspect of all this is the heirloom that she is so fortunate to have inherited. To know that you wear the ring of the woman that gave birth to the man that you love -who sadly is no longer around- to see what will be one of the happiest days of his life. May Catherine love him forever and may they treat each other with respect and honesty and may they remember that Diana is with them forever and that she will me smiling down on her gorgeous son tomorrow.

Cheers! to the Happy Couple…Salud!
